Elizabeth Herrera is a passionate advocate for Latino education and community empowerment. As the Co-Founder and Director of Community Advancement for Casa Azul de Wilson, she dedicates her work to supporting underrepresented Latino families in rural eastern North Carolina. Growing up as a first-generation Mexican-American in Wilson, NC, Elizabeth experienced the challenges faced by immigrant families firsthand, driving her commitment to education equity and civic engagement. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2019, she joined the Carolina College Advising Corps, where she helped underrepresented students navigate the college application process and overcome language barriers. Through Casa Azul, Elizabeth continues this work, tirelessly empowering Latino students and their families, ensuring they have the tools to succeed academically and beyond.
